BATAVIA — Batavia will host Batavia Days 2019 this weekend.
Batavia Little Leaguers will play against their parents Friday night on the ball diamond. The baseball team will play at 6:30 p.m., followed by the softball team at 7:30 p.m. The movie “The Sandlot” will be shown at 9 p.m. at the ball field. The concession stand will be open 6:30-9:30 p.m. All donations go to Batavia Little League.
Saturday begins with breakfast 6-9 a.m. at the Batavia Masonic Lodge.
Parade line up is at 9:30 a.m. No preregistration is required. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. For information, contact Tycene Weber at 641-919-4442.
Immediately after the parade, Batavia Fire Department will have its brats and pork sandwich lunch, and Batavia TTT will host an ice cream social at the fire station.
Cashus Italian Cuisine, Batavia’s local restaurant, plans to hand out samples downtown.
Children’s games begin at 11:15 a.m. in the pavilionm.
Sunday features a Colorful Canvas event with Sarah Eakins at 1:30 p.m. at the Batavia Community Center. Participants will paint an underwater scene featuring a turtle. Participants must sign up to secure a spot. To register, contact Eakins at email@example.com call 641-919-7280. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for kids.
Throughout the weekend, a donation box will be at the Batavia fire station for crayons, coloring books, word search books and children-friendly DVDs. Items will be donated to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital on the behalf of the Batavia community.
Also, throughout the weekend, beginning Friday, communitywide garage sales are planned.
