MENUS: Fairfield congregate meals; Fairfield schools Feb. 11-15, 2019

Fairfield congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Community Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday – spaghetti and meat sauce, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, banana.

Tuesday –roast turkey, mashed potatoes, poultry gravy, herbed green beans, diced peaches, chocolate pudding.

Wednesday chicken pot pie, Country Tomato Salad, broccoli cuts, mandarin oranges and bananas, frozen yogurt.

Thursday – Valentine’s Day; cook’s choice with dessert.

Feb. 15 –beef patty, baked potato with sour cream, spinach, orange wedges, oatmeal-raisin cookie.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. Reservations can be made either at the community center or by calling 472-4403.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Community Center.

Fairfield school meals

The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.

Elementary schools:

Monday – breakfast: yogurt and graham bites. Lunch: cheeseburger on a bun, baked beans, cucumber slices, peaches.

Tuesday – breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: grilled cheese, corn, broccoli with dip, pears.

Wednesday – breakfast: muffin with string cheese. Lunch: drumstick, mashed potatoes, carrot sticks, homemade roll, fresh fruit.

Thursday – breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: corn dog, honey-glazed carrots, celery sticks, fresh fruit.

Friday – breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara, steamed broccoli, rosy applesauce.

Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

Middle school:

Monday – breakfast: yogurt and graham bites. Lunch: cheeseburger on a bun or Italian chicken patty on a bun, baked beans, peaches.

Tuesday – breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: grilled cheese or ham and cheese, corn, pears.

Wednesday – breakfast: muffin with string cheese. Lunch: drumstick or Salisbury steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, homemade roll, fresh fruit.

Thursday – breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: corn dog or taco snacker, honey-glazed carrots, fresh fruit.

Friday – breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marina or cheese quesadilla pizza, green beans, rosy applesauce.

Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

High school:

Monday – breakfast: ultimate breakfast round. Lunch: chicken bacon wrap or BBQ chicken wrap, green beans, rice, mandarin oranges and pineapple.

Tuesday – breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: breaded mozzarella sticks with marinara or Lil’ Nacho bites with salsa, honey-glazed carrots, mixed fruit.

Wednesday – breakfast: filled crescent roll. Lunch pasta bar with choice of lasagna roll up with marinara or mac and cheese, steamed broccoli, garlic toast, rosy applesauce.

Thursday – breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: pork tenderloin on a bun or hot and spicy chicken patty on a bun, corn, pears.

Friday – breakfast: tornado. Lunch: drumstick or Salisbury steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, homemade roll, peaches.

Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
