The requests for housing for RAGBRAI keep coming in.
Over 200 housing needs have been fielded by Darien Sloat, Fairfield RAGBRAI housing chair. He is in search for anyone who might be willing to have two to 30 people set up tents in their yards.
Many riders would rather have the convenience of hot showers, privacy, and the personal hospitality of Fairfield residents. The riders are usually very gracious and happy to have accommodations. Hosts are not expected to feed their guests or to drive anyone anywhere. If you are willing to open your homes and lawns to the Riders of RAGBRAI, a housing form is available at https://www.fairfieldragbrai.com/. Also forms are available at the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce Office.
Also looking for volunteers is Dawn Bechtel, volunteer chair.
“For Fairfield to be a successful overnight stop, we need volunteers to come out and support our community,” stated a press release from Fairfield RAGBRAI. “There are volunteer jobs for everyone in town. There is especially a need for those who can help later in the afternoon or the evening of RAGBRAI.”
Already over 100 people have offered their help but more are needed. The volunteer form is available at https://www.fairfieldragbrai.com/. The forms are also available at the chamber office.
Another way of supporting Fairfield’s RAGBRAI adventure is by purchasing “Geared for Weird” T-Shirts. These shirts are available at https://fairfieldindandstitch.com/collections/fairfield-ragbrai. Many options are available and FYI..they are can be used as a “coupon” at many stores in Fairfield. Check out https://www.fairfieldragbrai.com/ for a listing of where these shirts become coupons!
