Fairfield High’s boys’ golf team defeated Fort Madison Tuesday at Washington, but wasn’t able to edge the host Demons, falling 16 strokes short with two regular whackers, Brad and Nate Smithburg, out due to another school commitment.

“We did not shoot great,” said skipper Mick Flattery, “but we still got second place and with the SEC tournament on this course in May, we will play another triangular here at the end of April and we’ll be using those two triangulars as scouting trips.”
