Five local distance runners headed to Fort Dodge

The Pekin boys and girls cross country teams qualified for the Class 1A state meet at Fort Dodge this Saturday with two Panthers from each team qualifying individually.

Both teams finished third overall with the guys finishing behind Iowa City Regina and Starmont and the ladies trailing only Calumus Wheatland and Maquoketa Valley.

Van Buren will also be sending one of their Warriors north to run this weekend with freshman Faith Neeley qualifying ahead of the top-15 cutoff.
