Tough week for Trojan boys' tennis

The FHS boys’ tennis team traveled to Centerville Monday night, falling to the Big Red 5-4, and then visited Keokuk Tuesday night where they were beaten 8-1 by a “tough Fort Madison team” according to head coach Bill Sheppard.


It all came down to the No. 2 doubles with the contest tied at four matches a piece, “unfortunately, FHS fell behind early and despite playing their opponents well in the second half of the match, couldn’t make up the deficit,” said Sheppard. Senior Will Sheppard was the only Trojan to capture victory in both his singles and doubles match.

No. 5 Brian Parcel, Sr., lost 3-8 to sophomore Karey Shondel

No. 6 Michael Holt, So., lost 1-8 to sophomore Austin Dell

Michael Holt won the only match for FHS at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 7-5 victory.
