The Fairfield gentlemen swimmers competed for Ottumwa Thursday night at The Beach against Des Moines East and Williamsburg. Here are the results involving Trojans.

200 yard medley relay

1st Ottumwa “A” 1:47.58

Kevin Kretz, So., Jackson Weaton, Sr., Ehrenhard and Keck

“It was my first time swimming the backstroke in this medley and we’re trying to put together the best relays we can with the best lineups we can. We’re trying to make it back to state and it went really well, so we’ll tweak it a little bit and then hopefully it’ll be perfect.” - Kretz

200 yard IM

3rd Dylan Barras, Jr., 2:30.02

Splits: 30.66 - 38.55 - 45.54 - 35.27

50 yard free

2nd Jackson Weaton, Sr., 22.67

“The race went pretty well but I got out touched at the last second and that is always a heartbreaker but it’s something to build on and I’ll see him again. He’s a good swimmer and it’s good to have competition this late in the season, heading into postseason in two weeks and I’ll get to see him again at conference.”

100 yard free

1st Jackson Weaton, Sr., 50.25

Splits: 24.22 and 26.03

“I set a new PR for this year and that is something to build on but not the fastest I’ll go,” said Weaton.

6th Evan Huff, Sr., 1:06.87

Splits: 33.08 and 33.79

200 yard free relay

2nd Ottumwa “A” 1:35.48

Jackson Weaton, Shively, Keck and Keven Kretz

“It was a great race, but I made a mistake and we lost by .01. On my flip-turn, my feet didn’t connect with the wall, so I kind of missed that and it messed up the whole team.” - Kevin Kretz

4th Ottumwa “B” 1:47.06

Thomason, Bishop, Barndy and Evan Huff

100 yard back

2nd Kevin Kretz, So., 100.29

Splits: 29.66 and 30.63

3rd Dylan Barras 1:05.66

Splits: 32.30 and 33.36

“It was my second time swimming that and I was able to cut time on it. Dylan Barras also swam it and did a great job and a great season.” - Kretz

400 yard free relay

2nd Ottumwa “A” 3:41.26

Ehrenhard, Shively, Keck and Kevin Kretz

“That was a lot of fun and we had a ton of guys race that. That’s another one we’re still tweaking and find the right combination of guys which is awesome because we have so many talented guys this year and it’s a lot of fun to watch them swim.” - Kretz

3rd Ottumwa “B” 4:18.35

Dylan Barras, Bishop, Barndt and Evan Huff

Evan Huff, Sr.

“My 50 fly and 100 free I wasn’t doing that great tonight, but my 50 free on the team relay I excelled better on. On my last 50 relay I looked to my left and saw someone right next to me and was able to pass two guys and get us some points.”
