The Fairfield junior varsity football team put a 43-6 beat-down on Keokuk Monday night on the road.
The defense was led by Payton Cline who had 15 tackles including 8.5 for loss and a blocked punt. Several other Trojans had big games with Alex Camero collecting nine tackles with four for a loss, Tyrone Haynes had 8.5 with 3.5 for a loss and Brad Smithburg had 7.5 with two for a loss.
The passing game was handled by Ethan Waugh who was 9-15 with 121 yards and two touchdowns.
Elan Ledger caught one of those TD passes on a two-yard score, while Logan Adam had the other while catching two balls for 42 yards. Blake Metz added five catches for 67 yards and Brody Angstead had a 12-yard reception.
Payton Cline had 16 carries for 77 yards and two end zone celebrations while Metz had six rushes for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Juan Rojo was 2-2 in point after attempts with Landen Schaefer also a perfect 3-3, in addition to returning a punt for a touchdown.
